Frequently Asked Questions

Home Care

What is a Home Care Package?

A Home Care Package provides coordinated care and services that help senior Australians to live safely and independently in their own home for as long as it is safe and appropriate to do so.

There are four levels of Home Care Packages:

LEVEL 1: Basic Care Needs

LEVEL 2: Low-Level Care Needs

LEVEL 3: Intermediate Care Needs

LEVEL 4: High-Level Care Needs

How do I know which Home Care Package is right for me?

To get a Home Care Package, you need a comprehensive aged care assessment. This is done by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). During your assessment, your assessor will discuss your current care needs and supports. They will decide the best level of Home Care Package for you.

Register with My Aged Care who will refer you to an Aged Care Assessment Service. Please note, packages are currently taking 6 to 12 months for approval.

How much does it cost?

You can find our current prices here.

Please note, out-of-pocket costs of Home Care services are dependant on whether you are a private, DVA or government funded client.

Our friendly staff are always available to explain the costs of the various services we provide. Please give us a call on 02 4861 1329 and we’ll be happy to provide an obligation-free assessment and cost estimate for you.

Would I be locked into a contract?

Southern Highlands Home Care provides consumers with an agreement of services and costs to give you peace of mind that we will deliver on our promise. Our agreements can easily be amended as your needs changed, giving you flexibility end the agreement if you wish.

We take pride in advocating for our clients and providing them with the best quality of care. It is your right as a consumer to have access to the Charter of Care Recipients Rights.

Can I change provider?

As of February 2017, people with Home Care Packages will be able to change providers, taking their package funding with them to the new provider.
