NDIS

What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme provides support to eligible people with intellectual, physical, sensory, cognitive and psychosocial disability. It is is designed to help people get the support they need so their skills and independence improve over time.

Am I eligible for the NDIS?

The NDIS provides care to Australian citizens or permanent residents under 65 who needs support because of a permanent and significant disability in order to live a normal life. 


If you meet the eligibility criteria you can ask to become a participant by completing an Access Request Form. Visit the NDIS website to check your eligibility

What is an NDIS Plan?

An NDIS Plan is a written agreement which outlines what goals you would like to pursue and what kind of help and support you need.

What is Support Coordination?

Some NDIS plans have funding for Support Coordination. Your Support Coordinator will assist you in starting your care plan and help you decide on who you want to provide the support you need.


Southern Highlands Home Care will work closely with you, your carer and family, and your Support Coordinator (if applicable) to determine services and supports you need to reach your goals. We will assist you with self-care activities, personal domestic activities, and provide access to community, social and recreational services. 

Am I locked into an NDIS Plan?

The NDIS is designed to increase your skills and independence so you can live a better life. As you work towards your goals, the amount of support you need will likely change.


Your support plan is adaptable to your changing needs. Your plan has regular scheduled reviews which provide opportunities for you to check if your supports are working for you and they are helping you work towards your goals.
